Everybody poops.
From your favorite celebrity to the queen of England pooping is the great equalizer. It’s a fact of life, but you might be surprised to learn just how much #2 we produce over the span of our lifetime.
The amount of poop can vary greatly depending on body weight, age, diet, exercise, etc. Human feces is about 70% solid and 30% fluids. On average both men and women evacuate their bowels once a day with an average weight of 14 to 17 ounces.
Over the course of a week a person poops about 6 lbs. So in a year a single individual produces 320 pound of poop….that’s alot of crap!
The average lifespan for a man is 76 and is 81 for women. That means a man living to 76 would poop 24,320 pounds in his lifetime and a women living to age 81 would produce 25,920 pounds of poop. That’s as heavy as 5 and a half adult rhinos!
To put this in more perspective this is also as heavy as
- 7 cars
- 20 polar bears
- 17 cows
- 80 panda bears
- 30 grand pianos
- 45 pigs
- 1500 bowling balls
- 20,000 basketballs
The current world population is 7.6 billion people and in total we generate an estimated 640 billion pounds of poop each year.
Here’s a scary thought. About 4.5 billion people don’t have access to toilets. As a result over 200 million tons of human excrement goes untreated directly into lakes, rivers and the ocean each year.
Nice article, now I had to release a fart as I write this.
