As crazy as it sounds, an artificial intelligence prototype has been developed that has been trained to detect cancer by listening to farts.ย The scientists have created Synthetic Human Acoustic Reproduction Testing, or SHART to listen for anomalies in the sounds of bodily functions (peeing, pooping, and farting) to detect cancer.
David Ancalle, a PhD student at Georgia Tech University says: โWeโre trying to find a non-invasive way where people can get a notification on whether or not they should go get checked out.
โLike, he, your urine is not flowing at the rate that it shouldโ or โYour farts are not sounding the way they shouldโ.โย Ancalle says the AI can identify which bodily function the sounds was coming from with 98% accuracy.
He says the AI can be used to fight diseases such as cholera, which kills several people each year.
In a presentation at the American Physical Society, he said: โThe acoustic characteristics of excretion events are unique and identifiable.โ
Who knows…one day this device could save your life!
Wow, that sounds awesome and absolute amazing!
